Situatives Brachland Museum is the title of an art project which took place at Bochum in 2011, as the opening performance of an unusual museum initiated by artists Matthias Schamp and Steffen Schlichter.

For this first exhibition at the „museum“, titled „Kunstwerke-Werfen/Informelle Inbesitznahme des Situativen Brachland Museums“, 49 artists created works that were thrown, illegally, over the fence of a wasteland of about 11 acres belonging to the city of Bochum. As the Situative Brachland Museum is a perambulating museum, the exhibition space is not restricted to this single area.

For the opening of Situatives Brachland Museum, Karl-Heinz Mauermann developed the aerial relay station CCTV 01.

aerial relay station CCTV 01, through its integrated optical system, records information on site. Data pertaining to conditions of space and time are collected, these, however, are not directly evaluated, but relayed to a central computing unit. ars CCTV 01 consists of an airborne helium-filled carrier balloon and the actual observation unit, and is fixed above its site of operation by means of a steering rope. Its function of collecting data on  conditions of space and time exceeds that of registering mere space-/time-co-ordinates. Additionally, the system also registers social, socio-economic and psycho-social information.

ars CCTV 01 is an exceedingly robust model, suitable to universal purposes due to its flight function, and operates independently of round-the-clock supersivion by service personnel. Thus it may be used with great facility both in urban, and in open country spaces. Even under difficult circumstances, as in the case of a combinaton of human, social and urban wasteland, ars CCTV 01 will yield reliable information.

Initially, long-term developement research preceeds the creation of all the machines, automats, semi-automats by Karl-Heinz Mauermann. In most cases, several machines are developed in a batch and will be tested, first, under laboratory conditions, later, however, under actual service conditions.

Data collected during the opening performance suggest further exploration. Within weeks of the throwing of works of art, Karl-Heinz Mauermann starts a field research project regarding the panspermium-theory on the site of the Bochum wasteland. aerial relay station | panspermie
